TEJ Dictionary
The Statistical Classification of Industry is the industry classification published by the Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics, Executive Yuan (DGBAS). It is an industry classification for companies in Taiwan, and it is divided into section, division, group, and class. You can visit the website of the DGBAS to find out this industry classification.
The classification of each level will also be represented by different letters and numbers. Sections are classified by letters of A to S, divisions are classified by 2 digits, groups are classified by 3 digits, and classes are classified by 4 digits. (Refer to Figure 1)
For example, the rice growing industry is in Section A ➡️Division 01 ➡️Group 011 ➡️Class 0111.
However, the DGBAS only announced the classification criteria, and did not classify the industries to which the companies belonged according to the corresponding industries. Information about the industries to which company belongs to can only be found on the website of Ministry of Finance, R.O.C.
Take Formosa Oilseed Processing Co., Ltd. (FOPCO) (1225) as an example, entering the tax ID of 22102298, you can find the tax registration information of FOPCO as shown in Figure 3. In the field of business registration, you can see the industry category to which FOPCO belongs. It is worth noting that these categories are filled in by the business operator at the time of business registration, so a company can belong to at most 4 industries. The first one is more likely to be its main industry code.
However, the website of Ministry of Finance can only extract data for one company at a time. If you want to find the industry classification of multiple companies at once, you must search them one by one. This is both time-consuming and error-prone. Fortunately, TEJ provides data of organized company industry classification, which will save you tremendous of time. The following is a sample file containing 100 companies.
